Summary: The case against Valery Golubkin was opened on April 12, 2021, on the same day he was arrest­ed and sent to the Lefortovo pre-tri­al deten­tion cen­ter. Physicist, employ­ee of the Zhukovsky Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute (TsAGI), MIPT pro­fes­sor Valery Golubkin was accused of trea­son. Golubkin cat­e­gor­i­cal­ly denied his guilt.
On June 26, 2023, the Moscow City Court sen­tenced Valery Golubkin to 12 years in a max­i­mum secu­ri­ty prison. The tri­al took place behind closed doors, since the mate­ri­als of the crim­i­nal case are clas­si­fied. The sci­en­tist insist­ed on his innocence.

Update September 25, 2023: The first appel­late court of gen­er­al juris­dic­tion rec­og­nized as legal the sen­tence of MIPT pro­fes­sor Valery Golubkin, who was sen­tenced to 12 years in prison for trea­son, RIA Novosti reports.
